Why gate records are incomplete

At a busy gate, nobody keeps a reliable record of every vehicle. When a delivery is disputed, a trailer goes missing or a vehicle was in the yard at night, someone scrolls through hours of footage. Paper logs at the gatehouse are incomplete, and outside opening hours there is no one at all.

What ProDataAI Lens does at the gate

  • Vehicles counted in and out at the gate, with times.
  • Number plates at entry and exit, where agreed with your data protection officer.
  • Vehicles at loading bays and in marked yard areas, for example a truck at bay 4 after 6 pm.
  • Vehicles outside opening hours as an alert with the clip.

Everything ProDataAI Lens detects can be searched in plain language across all cameras, by camera, zone and time, for example “white van at gate 2 after 10 pm” or “truck at loading bay 4 after 6 pm”. Search questions currently work in English.

Number plates are personal data

A number plate can usually be traced to a person, so recording plates needs a clear purpose, such as access control or clarifying disputed deliveries, a short retention period and information for drivers. We set number plate recognition up only where your data protection officer has agreed it, and only at the cameras where it serves that purpose.

See our guide to GDPR, works council and the EU AI Act.

Reports for logistics and site management

Daily reports arrive at the time you choose, and you can create one whenever you need it: vehicles in and out, busy hours at the gate, vehicles in the yard outside opening hours. They help with gate staffing and slot planning, without anyone counting by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Is number plate recognition allowed?

It can be, with a clear purpose, proportionate retention and information for drivers. The decision lies with your data protection officer; we set it up only where they have agreed it.

Can ProDataAI Lens open the gate or connect to our yard management system?

Integrations depend on your systems, so we check them for your site. Work beyond the setup included in the offer is agreed separately as an integration project.

Do we need special plate cameras?

Plate reading needs a camera that sees the plate clearly enough. In the pilot we check whether your gate cameras do.
